Organics explained
In 2006, our range took on a totally new turn when we introduced the first ever 100% organic cotton shopping bags for Marks & Spencer.
They were a huge success! Featuring models Twiggy and Erin O’Connor, who were central to the company’s marketing and advertising campaign, over 1 million units were sold in the UK alone in a period of just three months.
Following the success with M&S, we continue to develop innovative products using the organic cotton process. This process involves four certificates for every manufactured consignment we bring to our clients.
The criteria organic cotton has to meet include:
- avoidance of most synthetic chemicals, GMOs, irradiation, and the use of sewage sludge;
- farmland that has been free from chemicals for a number of years;
- detailed audit trail;
- keeping organic products and non-certified products apart;
- regular site inspections.
